Nikone Handcraft is a handloom weaving center based in Vientiane, Laos. They manufacture handwoven textiles. Nikone mixes traditional style with modern design. They specialize in continuous complimentary weaving: the pick up technique. They use local materials such as silk, cotton and jungle vine.

Nikone is dedicated to working with environmentally friendly practices and offering opportunities for local women. They employ up to 50 women, who dye, weave and sew the textiles. Nikone is a family business, run by Lanoi, the daughter of Rassanikone Nanong, who established the business in 1992.

Her Works showcases the beauty of handicrafts made by women in Laos. The word “HER” emphasizes the hard work of women behind our production process. They harvest, spin and dye natural fibers to weave textiles.

Our home collection integrates contemporary design and unique traditional handicraft skills of Lao ethnic women. We encourage ethical living by using indigenous materials and handmade processes such as embroidery, weaving and hand-stitching.

Her Works is a woman-owned small enterprise based in Vientiane that wants to provide work and income to female producers from the many different ethnic groups in Laos.

SALASUSU Cambodia, is offering pencil and key holders, pouches and sandals made from rush, a plant grown by villagers along Mekong River. The reed is combined with cotton, hand-woven into mats, dyed with natural pigments and then sewn into decorative items for home and the workplace.

‘SALA’ means: school, and ’SUSU’: cheer up. This describes what we do: our factory is also a school, where women and men can learn life skills in a work situation, according to our “Enjoy your Life Journey” philosophy. We create a clean and healthy work place and offer meaningful work and income to our in-house staff and the rush farmers.
