Kwetu Africa is run by the Ugandan artist and designer Sanaa Gateja. He up-cycles old books, magazines and posters into sophisticated wearable art pieces and bags, a style he refers to as “Art Wear”.

He also works with basket weavers in the gorilla conservation forests to produce intricately crafted baskets with patterns inspired by farming terraces on the hillsides. Kwetu creates employment for numerous women in Uganda.

Moyo was conceived ten years ago as a Tanzanian design house ethically handcrafting Swahili inspired home decor and fashion accessories.

Using the vibrantly patterned African wax textiles, Moyo combines a traditional African aesthetic with contemporary design to result in a unique and quirky product range.

Following fair trade principals and a philosophy of sustainability, Moyo repurposes most of its waste and utilizes various recycled materials in its production process.

Easy Afric Designs is a socially motivated Fair Trade business Enterprise based in Uganda, producing high quality products branded LUSUSU. The company produces fashion accessories, soft furnishings, décor and gift items made out of the Ugandan cultural heritage fabric, Barkcloth.

Barkcloth is a unique cultural heritage fabric, sustainably harvested from the Fig tree species; Ficus Natelensis’, locally known as ‘Mutuba’ tree.

The Lususu bark cloth is reinforced, enriched and complemented with handcrafted decoration using natural and eco-friendly fibers and fabrics.

Uganda Crafts works with women’s groups from all over Uganda to produce a wide variety of both functional and decorative baskets. The beautifully crafted baskets are woven utilizing sustainable banana and raffia fibres. The eclectic mix of colours and patterns reflect the vibrancy of the region and make each basket a graphic design statement. Kwanza Collection works with women’s groups in the Njombe region to produce the unique Iringa Baskets which are only found in this remote region of Tanzania. Woven utilizing local reeds and natural dyes, these authentic baskets have a very natural and timeless appeal.

WomenCraft fuses traditional weaving techniques with a modern aesthetic to create high-quality home décor items from sustainable natural materials. Our business model creates economic opportunities for women and contributes to a positive social change in post-conflict communities in East Africa.

Undugu’s home decor range is made from the beautiful Kisii soapstone, found in the hills of western Kenya. Each item is 100% hand-carved and decorated, displaying a high level of craftsmanship. The collection fuses traditional skills with contemporary design, giving a fresh twist to an age-old craft. The new collection features simple shapes and trendy colours, giving the product range a very contemporary feel.

KICK is specialized in recycling waste into cheerful greetings. The company utilizes waste paper, water hyacinth, copper wire, tin, tetra-packs and old mobile phone cards to craft beautiful greeting cards for almost any occasion. Each card is 100% handcrafted and reflects an amazing ingenuity and ability to improvise. Based on the shores of Lake Victoria, Kick gives employment to disadvantaged youth in the region by offering them training and then helping them set up as independent suppliers.

Liana Creation has specialized in the design and production of bags, baskets and other accessories made out of Madagascan raffia. Raffia is a 100% natural fiber from a renewable source. Liana Creations has been in existence for 15 years and has won numerous awards, amongst others, International laureate of UNESCO Prize for arts and crafts for the African continent in 2002. All products are skilfully crafted by hand using natural materials.

KATCHY KOLLECTIONS is an innovative design company, founded by the Kenyan fashion designer Anthony MULLI. The company specializes in designing and fabricating fashion accessories and home décor.

Their latest collection features a line of trendy bags and storage containers made from hand-crocheted plastic bags. KATCHY’s designs are also inspired by the rich and colourful MAASAI jewellery of Kenya. Each product is adorned with intricate beaded ornaments that have become a signature of the brand.
