SINCE 2012, LM&M HAS BEEN RUNNING AN EXPORT COACHING PROGRAMME IN EAST AFRICA & MADAGASCAR.

9 companies from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Madagascar will be showing their latest collections at Ambiente 2015. The products reflect the vibrant and rich crafts traditions of this culturally diverse region, infused with contemporary design elements. All products are skilfully handcrafted using locally available materials and age-old production techniques. Many of the companies are Fairtrade certified, showing their commitment to bettering the lives of the producer groups they work with. EXPLORE INDONESIA

CBI’s Colourful Asia programme in Indonesia supports the Home Decoration and Home Textiles sector whilst focusing on greater sustainability and making a positive contribution to people, planet and profit in the value chain – particularly in wood and rattan.

Within this programme, which is supported by the Dutch government, twelve Indonesian exporters will be showing their new collections at the Ambiente and Maison et Objet trade fairs, as well as at regional fairs in Asia. Products groups offered are: decorative accessories, in- and outdoor furniture, storage, table- and kitchenware, and even radios (!).

EXPLORE SOUTH AFRICA

Distinctive contemporary design, innovative production techniques, an array of unusual sustainable raw materials and commitment to social responsibility, all combine to present dynamic new stories about people and product from South Africa. CBI’s extensive home decoration and home textiles programme of 29 companies celebrates the country’s unique diversity of culture and design.

Four of the companies are represented at Ambiente 2015, exhibiting fresh ´new directions´, where sustainable natural raw materials are crafted by hand, using unique production methods in eye catching contemporary design.

EXPLORE EGYPT

Ceramics of primitive formes,  candle holders made of alabaster, delicate metal work, mouth blown decanters in the colours of the Nile, handmade but incredible contemporary.

CBI offers a platform for artisans from Egypt. Discover the art of interior by well known Designer Randa Fahmy  and Pakinam Ibrahim who do a joint project on metal and glass work. The trio gets completed by Hisham El Gazzar a leader in the Egytian Craft Industri and fair trade movement.

EXPLORE BANGLADESH

Bangladesh is well known for growing a wide variety of natural fibers. The 9 Bangladeshi companies in CBI’s Export Coaching programme for sustainable home decoration all work with these materials from renewable sources: Palm leaf, sea grass, jute, water hyacinth, silk, date leaf and hemp.

These versatile raw materials have many applications: As the basic material for baskets and rugs, as an accent in hand woven fabrics and as the basis for beautiful accessories.

Each of the companies in this programme has managed to create its own signature style collection, marrying traditional skills with contemporary influences. For products that appeal now and in the future.

EXPLORE MONGOLIA

Discover Mongolia’s re-emerging exotic fibre industry of Cashmere, Yak and Camel wool. Mongolia’s finished products shown on the CBI stand like throws, blankets, cushions, home ware and accessories are acknowledged by experts as amongst the best in the world. Goyo and BlueSky have made a specialty and an art out of collecting, processing, knitting and weaving these rare natural products, which were selected for inclusion amongst the exclusive six fibre varieties that qualify for the exalted designation Mongolian Noble Fiber
